We Made It - with your Help...
Thank you for your amazing generosity. With your help, we have managed to raise all that we need for the 3 weeks in Washington for Micah & Tianna to continue the therapy and healing process for their attachment disorders. We have even raised a little extra, that we will put specifically to help further healing of the kids. They have been up in Washington for a week now, and are having some quite intense therapy. The first step was to take a lens map of thier brains to see how they were doing. They compared them to the ones they took at the camp last year and are showing significant improvement in thier functionality. What a blessing to see that all our work, frustration and heartache over the year is paying off. They have one more week of therapy and then into a week of the family camp. Thank you again for your amazing generosity in helping us change the destiny of these 2 lives. We couldnt do it without you. All our Love Tym & Sam ![]() Tianna was born in Tijuana in 2006. Her history notes are minimal, but we do know that her mum was 34 and her name was Andrea. Tianna was left in the hospital, and when they went to try and find her mum, she was found Dead in a hotel room. There is the name of a father in her notes, but nothing more. Tianna was taken into care straight away and placed in an orphange in Ensenada. For the first months of her life she spent most of the time in the crib, just taken out to feed and nappy changes. Because of her lack of attachment in her first months of life, it is impossible for her to trust anybody. This leads to her being controlling and manipulative with much lying and stealing. This is typical to kids with attachment disorder. Also because of the way her brain has developed, she has a hard time learning, and still doesn't read and write, and is currently not attending school. On top of this Tianna is on permanent medication for a life threatening condition that she has. We are currently trying to raise $4000 for 3 weeks of very important therapy for him. Would you consider being part of this by giving a gift, however small and praying for us as we work through this. ...but despite these terrible beginnings in Life, THERE IS HOPE. With God's help, your help and a lot of perseverance, we can bring a permanent change to the lives of Micah & Tianna, and redeem the years that have been taken away... Thank you for helping change the lives of these children...
![]() Micah was born in Mexicali in 2005. The notes we have about Micah’s history are very minimal, but we do know that he was born to an illiterate 17 yr. old single mother, who had already been through drug rehab at the age of 14. He suffered severe abuse and neglect in his very early life, and by the time he was taken into care at 7 months old, he had broken limbs and was severely malnourished. Because of his past abuse, Micah lives in a state of severe anxiety which affects every area of his life. We also feel that he may be suffering with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome caused by drugs and alcohol abuse while an unborn child. Micah is now 8 yrs old, but still unable to read and write, and because of his behavior issues, unable to attend school. Since starting the attachment program, we have seen MAJOR advances, and feel he may even be ready for school in September. We are currently trying to raise $4000 for 3 weeks of very important therapy for him. Would you consider being part of this by giving a gift, however small and praying for us as we work through this. ...but despite these terrible beginnings in Life, THERE IS HOPE. ![]() I know many of you have been following our journey with Micah and Tianna over this past year since we attended the family camp in Washington last June. It has been a very hard year mentally and physically putting everything into practice that we learned in dealing with kids with attachment disorder. We had to totally relearn how to parent Micah and Tianna in the way they needed. We went in 110% with the program as we could not afford to waste more time. We focused on Micah first most intensely and the change has been amazing. He has stopped raging, biting, hitting out at everyone and breaking things. He no longer walks round in circles, or crawls on the floor talking to himself. He sleeps well at night and does not take 3 hrs to do it. And no longer thrashes around or sweats all night. All in all he is a much more pleasant child to be around. All this we could not have done without the support of our friends...So we are carrying on with the process. Next Saturday, May 18th, Sam, Micah & Tianna, head of to Washington a second time. This time they start with 2 weeks of intensive Neuro therapy, followed by attending the family camp again. We are so blessed that we are being give huge discounts and some free sessions but this whole trip is still going to cost us around $4000. This therapy is Key to the healing process and there is nothing like this available in Mexico. Micah is 8 years old now, and still unable to read and write. We think this is a big piece needed in the puzzle for Micah and are praying that in September, he will be ready to return to school and a embark on his life of learning. Please consider helping us in our quest to continue the healing process of our special children... Thank you so much for helping to change the destiny of these 2 children. All our Love Tym & Sam
![]() This week me and Sam had the honor of joining 200+ YWAM leaders from all across the. Leaders from Canada down to Argentina attended the conference in Panama to meet together and hear what God is doing around the World. For the last few years we have been building Homes of Hope in Panama and so far we have built about 10 houses. They are very different to the ones we build in Mexico, but still changes the lives of families in the same way. ![]() One of the highlights of the week was to go into one of the villages to visit the first ever Homes of Hope built in Panama. It was a bit of an adventure. travelling across the river in a boat carved from a tree, and then a short treck through the jungle to the village. so far we have have built 2 homes in this village, and in July we have a team going to build the third. |
