Healing Hearts In Ensenada...

Many of you who have following our story with Micah and Tianna will know about the family camps that we've attended and how life changing they have been for us. They have taught us, encouraged us and equipped us in the journey of helping to heal our kids with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
So in True "YWAM" style of "DO First, THEN Teach" We decided to hold a camp of our own in Ensenada.

We were joined by 10 families from around the world, each with between 1 and 8 children, and each with their own story and situation.
We were also joined by and "A-List" of doctors and therapists including the world renowned Speaker, Author and advanced parenting coach, Nancy Thomas.
This camp also had a focus on Nuero-therapy, with each participant receiving a brain scan, EEG or LENS map

This allowed the Doctors to see how their brains were coping with the trauma and stress of their situation. We then gave each person a number of Neuro feedback sessions to help heal the nuero pathways that have damaged over the years of trauma. This therapy has been pivotal in Micah's healing over the years, so we were very excited to have it as a main focus at the camp in Ensenada.

The biggest aim of the camp was to help parents with understanding and tools to help them on the road to recovery.
This was done through teaching and training the parents, and also the kids. There was a the "Heart Smart Room" This was specifically set up  with activities and games to help the children cope with stress and anxiety.

Each day the kids had "Journal Time" this is important to help them process thier thoughts and feelings with life. There was singing, dancing, beach games, Trust games, The T-Shirt folding olympics, therapy sessions, and plenty of fun.
Everyone worked really hard all week, including all the base staff who were running round in the background supporting the camp staff. The camp was very successful and we are already talking about Next Year...
As always we want to make sure all our work has a local impact, and not just for the people coming in, so we took the opportunity to use the camp staff, and hold a 3 day advanced parenting seminar for local orphanages and children's workers. It was attended by about 40 local people, who were equipped and trained to be better at what they do in the local communities.
