Meet Fausto and Gloria. A very loving couple who we had the chance to work with this week. Married for 7 years they have 2 children Angel & Abril. Living in pretty desperate circumstances, they family had been hit by immigration issues and health problems. Meaning Fausto has not been able to work for the past 18 months. They've been living on the measly $57 a week that Gloria was earning, packing vegetables. Thier house is a tiny shack with tarp walls and a dirt floor. They had 2 small beds between them and minimal furniture. Although very poor, with very few things, they kept everything they had well. The house was kept clean and even the dirt yard was clean and raked when we arrived. Building their house was a true joy. The family joined in with everything, and were so appreciative of everything we did for them. When it came to the dedication ceremony, there was hardly a dry eye. Fausto accepted the keys, but then took one key off the ring and hung it out side the house. He said this key is for you. My home will always be your home. Then turning to the team he said "When i was young, i always wondered what Angels looked liked. Now i Know what they look like" This weekend we built 5 homes for the poor in Ensenada. It was espeially meaningful for us as Jacob & Rachel we able to come out and join us on the build.
Thanks for being part of changing lives in Ensenada |
