We're very excited to use our new "Las Olas" building for the first time in September. Although not finished, we managed to gain occupancy for a few weeks to hold our biannual staff conference and to have a very special 35th anniversary event, which included worship led by Shane & Shane and Brenton Brown. It was great to be inside and use this fantastic facility that we've been building for the past 5 years. Here is the Las Olas auditorium, a few weeks before the event, and then ready for the event. Many late nights and house of hard work went into making it look awesome.
It is now 35 years since that group of young people from Los Angeles came down to Mexico to build one house, and that little girl came to her dad and said Are we going to build a home for that family too? What started with a dream of building one house for one family has become a global movement. We have now built over 9,000 homes in 27 nations, mobilized hundreds of thousands of short-term volunteers, and trained up thousands of students to send as missionaries to the nations. Watch this video about the history of the Homes of Hope story. |
